sumtone is a music publisher focussing on the contemporary classical field, in particular computer and electronic music. The company is registered in Tübingen, Germany, and was founded in 2002 by the composers Achim Bornhöft (composer, Mozarteum University, Salzburg, Austria), Ludger Brümmer (composer, director of the Institute for Music and Acoustics at the Centre for Art and Media Technology "ZKM", Karlsruhe, Germany), and Michael Edwards (composer, University of Edinburgh, UK). Dr. Saskia Reither is director of the company; Timothy Donaldson is art director and web designer.
The aim in starting the company was to adequately represent composers of music with strong electronic components; moving away from the historical concentration on music on paper, to music on or in whatever medium is required for its presentation. As specialists in new audio technologies, we pride ourselves not only on the quality of our music but also the quality of its dissemination. Hence our commitment to new forms of music distribution and our sole reliance upon the internet to reach our customers and public.
